LMR Group started with family. Mold wasn't something I planned to build a business around, but it became personal when someone I loved was forced to confront it in their own home.
I saw how overwhelming mold can be—the health concerns, the cost, the uncertainty, and the pressure of trying to figure out who to trust. That experience changed how I look at this work.
For me, mold remediation is not just about removing mold. It is about helping people through a stressful situation with honesty, care, and a commitment to doing the job properly.

The detailed story begins with someone I loved needing help.
My widowed sister and her son had been getting sick often and experiencing brain fog. After years of exploring different health options, she had her home tested for mold. The results were serious, and the assessor recommended that she leave the house as soon as possible.
Shocked by the news and unsure what to do next, she began living in her father-in-law's camper. She only went into the house during the day to cook.
The cost made the situation even harder
When she started getting estimates from remediation companies, it quickly became clear that the cost was not financially feasible for her to take on by herself. She decided she would have to move.
My dad tried to help by arranging for her to move into a family rental. But after everything she had already been through, she needed the reassurance that the home was safe before moving in.
When the results from the rental came back positive in six different spots, it first seemed like the remediation might be manageable.
Trying to help turned into something bigger
A family friend who worked in remediation was asked to look at it, but he was too busy to take on the work. Because I had a background in renovations, I asked what he would do if he were handling the remediation and offered to do the work under his guidance.
As I began opening up and removing those six areas, the job quickly became much bigger. I found more mold in every one of them.
I kept removing drywall, kitchen cabinets, and flooring, asking for guidance along the way. Eventually, most of the walls in the small home had to be removed.
What mold taught me about families under stress
Suddenly, I was in the middle of a painful family situation. My dad was trying to help my sister, the remediation and rebuild costs were growing, and my sister simply wanted a safe place for herself and her son.
That experience showed me firsthand how overwhelming mold can be for families. It is one of the reasons I continue to train, learn, and focus on doing the work properly, cost-effectively, and with care for people who are already sensitized or under stress.
What began as one attempt to help my family became the foundation for how I approach every project.
Through that experience, I saw the need for remediation companies to work to a clear and accountable standard. In Canada, mold remediation is not governed by the same kind of consistent legal framework many people expect. My hope is to see stronger standards that protect homeowners, support sensitized individuals, and hold remediators accountable for doing the work properly.
Since then, I have completed NORMI's Certified Mold Remediator training and Certified Mold Assessor training, and I am a proud member of NORMI Canada.
Today, I am committed to upholding strong standards, continuing my education, and serving people with honesty and care. I started LMR Group because I care deeply about the people we serve—people who are often overwhelmed, worried, and unsure who to trust. My goal is to help them move toward healthier homes, greater peace of mind, and the chance to prosper again.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about my story and about LMR Group. If you're here because you're dealing with mold in your home, I know how overwhelming it can feel to find the right company and know who to trust. I invite you to learn more about how we work, what we value, and the care we bring to each home and family we serve.
